What is the apprenticeship fund, and what does it cover?

The apprenticeship fund is designed to cover the cost of the apprentice’s training, including the coursework, training material.

Are there any age restrictions for the levy transfer?

From April 2024, the Government extended the age band for fully funded apprenticeships.  Currently, an apprentice aged 21 or below at the start of their apprenticeship can be fully funded by the Government, so there is no need to apply for levy transfer funding in this situation. We can support your training needs when you have a skills need for people aged  22 or over

What’s the minimum wage for apprentices funded by BT Group levy transfer?

The apprentice must be paid the National Living Wage.

Who is responsible for paying the apprentice’s wages?

As the employer, you are responsible for paying your apprentice’s wages throughout the duration of the apprenticeship. This allows you to support and invest in your apprentice’s development as they contribute to your business.

Will you charge me to register for and use this levy transfer service?

No, it’s free to use for a receiving employer.

How do I set up the Apprenticeship Service account

Before setting up your apprenticeship service account you will need to have :

  1. Your work email;
  2. Your accounts office reference number (AORN) and PAYE scheme reference number; and
  3. Authority to accept the employer agreement on behalf of your organisation .

Should I register on the portal if I don’t have a digital account?

No, there’s no need to register on the portal if you don’t yet have a digital account. Instead, please submit an enquiry, and a member of our team will reach out to arrange an online meeting. During this session, we’ll guide you through the steps to set up your digital account and answer any questions you may have and also support you then registering on the portal.

I’ve just registered for the levy transfer service. What happens next?

Upon registration you will receive an email to let you know the team are processing your registration and the next steps in the process.

How long does the levy transfer process take?

We aim to review and action your application and if successful you will be able to access funding for the apprenticeship within 20 working days.

Can I use any training provider for the BT Apprenticeship Fund?

No, we work with a carefully selected network of high-quality training providers, to ensure your apprentice has a high quality experience. 

Do you offer a recruitment service?

No, we do not offer a recruitment service. Employers are responsible for recruiting and selecting their apprentices.

Can I use the levy transfer service in the devolved nations?

No, levy transfer is only available in England.

Can I use levy transfer for other qualifications or courses?

No, levy transfer is for apprenticeships only.
